Invitation to 3rd Old-Prague Ham - International Rugby Veteran Games 2011

12 veteran teams from 6 countries, totally about 450 people met on June 25-27, 2010 in Prague, Czech Republic on the occasion of 2nd Old-Prague Ham – International Rugby Veteran Games organised by Old Boys Praha – a Czech purely veteran rugby club. Sunny weather and friendly atmosphere were good pre-conditions for a succesful event for all participants.

The complete list of participating teams involved:

  • Praga Oldies (CZ),
  • Old Boys Praha (CZ),
  • CUS Old Rugby Catania (I),
  • Moravian-Silesian Eagles (CZ),
  • AJC Perpignan (F),
  • Old Stars Hungary (H),
  • CPPN Chaumont (F),
  • Veteranos Elche (E),
  • Old Rugby Pesaro (I),
  • Brandenburg Adler (D),
  • Armata Brancaleon Mirano (I) and
  • Ribolliti Firenze (I).

All teams received commemorative cups and other gifts. The main trophy, a big piece of a Old-Prague Ham, a typical Czech gastronomy specialty, was finally got by a team of Praga Oldies.

Moreover, the following three oldiest players of the event were awarded commemorative medals which they received from girls of Petrovice – Czech Rugby Champions in the category of U19:

1. Pan Vladislav Petras (71 years), born 7.8.1939 – fullback Old Boys Praha (CZ)

2. Herr Klaus Gartenschäger (69), born 6.12.1941 –  prop Brandenburg Adler (D)

3. Herr Detlef Krüger (67), born 6.7.1943 – three-quarter Brandenburg Adler (D)

Next edition, 3rd Old-Prague Ham – International Veteran Rugby Games 2011 will take place again in June next year, for the first time separately for a Golden (35+) and Platinum (50+) Categories. More info will be soon available at: http://oldboys.rugby.cz/en/invitation.

  • June 25-27, 2010: Organising 2nd OLD-PRAGUE HAM - International rugby Veteran Games in Prague - entries completed;

 

  • September 23-25, 2010: Participation at 8th Georg Holek Cup in Olomouc (Moravia);

 

  • October 23, 2010: Participation in 2nd Prof. Zdeněk Sláma´s 100 Years Tournament in Chrášťany u Prahy;

 

Forecast to the Near Future

2011

  • Organising 3rd OLD-PRAGUE HAM - International Rugby Veteran Games on June 10-12, 2011;

 

  • Ideas on another overseas trip on the occasion of the NZ World Cup are on discussions - details TBC;

2012

  • June 2012: 11th European Golden Oldies Rugby Festival in Trieste (Italy).

2013

  • Celebrations of 1/4 Century Anniversary of Old Boys Praha (1988-2013).

2014

  • 12th European Golden Oldies Rugby Festival - for the time being 2 candidates: Elche (Spain) and Cascais (Portugal) applied for hosting.
